Making Sure You Have a Decent Red Blood Cell Count

A person’s red blood cell count is very important. The red blood cells are very vital to a person’s body and its well being, as it is responsible for the circulation of the oxygen throughout the person’s inner systems. A drop or decrease in the red blood cell count would lead to dire consequences. This lack of red blood cells is called anemia. Good thing though that there is a way to treat anemia naturally.

The most common reason behind a person having anemia is iron deficiency. To avoid anemia or alleviate a person’s lack of iron naturally is to of course, add his or her intake of iron. For a person with anemia or is trying to avoid anemia, it would be wise to splurge on iron rich foods. Liver is a prime example of food that is rich in iron.

Other iron rich food include bananas, beets, asparagus, yams, broccoli, raisins, parsley, purple grapes, prunes, plums, squash, whole grains, kelp, and leafy green vegetables.

One should also avoid or at least inorganic iron supplements. Too much iron in the body can also be a very bad thing. Intake of coffee, tea and other sources of caffeine should also be avoided as they impede iron absorption. The same goes for dairy products such as milk, butter ice cream and others. Other foods that inhibit iron absorption are chocolate, cocoa, soda, and most nuts, especially cashews and almonds. Try to intake these in moderate amounts.

Another way of improving the condition of an anemic person is to drink a lot of juices that contain and are rich in chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is responsible for making the leaves green and is a vital part of the creation of oxygen in plants. Chlorophyll also is very similar to hemoglobin, the component in red blood cells that carries the oxygen. Chlorophyll is a good supplement for the missing hemoglobin.
